Day 15 – The Tetons

Destination: Teton Village, WY (1 hour, 45 miles)

We took advantage of being close to the Tetons and the later checkout time. I took Brooke to the pool right after breakfast and we had it completely to ourselves. She practiced her alligator crawl and “bobs”.

After we got ready and checked out we headed for Jackson. As usual on this trip, the ride was stunning. It was a winding road through the mountains with Snake River paralleling the road. We got into Jackson around noon. We walked across the town square and saw the antler arches.

We stopped for lunch at Roadhouse Tap Room. Jaclyn and I enjoyed it but it ended in disaster as Brooke refused to eat her carrots. It’s tough being on a trip this long because you can’t just throw all the rules out the window.

After everyone got in a better mood we made our way to Jackson Hole resort and ascended the 100 person tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain. Brooke absolutely loved it and the views from the top were just stunning. Half was snowy, rocky peaks and the other have was green fields with more snowy, rocky peaks behind them. At the top there is a famous cabin that serves waffles so we had to check that out. We ate some delicious waffles (and I had a beer) at 10,500 ft. It was absolutely perfect weather, with amazing visibility and almost no wind. I’ve never been so comfortable on a mountain top (except The Mountain Top Inn!).

We descended the mountain looking for moose and wildlife but didn’t see anything. We then checked into our Indian food smelling AirBnB where ChatGPT read Brooke another bedtime story and we all relaxed for the night.

  1. This is one of the reasons I love our country: in the span of a week and a few hundred miles, you went from 103 degrees and shorts, to snow and long pants and jackets! America the Beautiful! 🇺🇸
