I forgot that I actually had to work this day so I ended up working from the house. Jaclyn was nice enough to let me sleep in a little bit since Beckett woke up at 1am and would only go back to sleep in our bed and then gave me like 1 inch of space in a king size bed. We’re definitely hoping this is just a random event and that he doesn’t stop sleeping through the night at this house. Although he has consistently woken up early on this trip he has been really good about sleeping through the night for the past couple weeks.

Jaclyn and Ron played with the kids as I worked. I made the mistake of showering which caused my sunburn from the outdoor Wisconsin water park to start to itch like crazy. Like, literally the worst itching ever. I tried putting lotion on it which made it even worse. I was seriously struggling every single second and was even having Jaclyn scratch my back while Beckett was screaming in his pack and play instead of napping (priorities!).
The sunburn itch has happened before and I remembered that aloe also makes it worse. I googled it and I remembered looking up something called “hells itch” from before. They don’t know exactly what it is but it’s an itch from the skins reaction to a sun burn but it’s different from the pain/itch from the sun burn itself. In reading the sub reddit, people literally go to the ER because they go so insane from the itch. Luckily, Reddit also had a list of do’s and don’ts. So, I took some ibuprofen and Jaclyn and I drove to the store to have Beckett fall asleep and to get essentially bug bite itch spray. THANK GOD those two things worked.
With my sun burn under control I returned to working. Naomi arrived at the house around 2:30 and she instantly bonded with Beckett as she brought big plastic trucks for the kids to play with. In the afternoon they all went into the town and walked around and walked out to the light house. I stayed back to finish my work.

Ron grilled up some really tasty chicken thighs and we all had a nice dinner together. It’s been nice to get real meals and food again after being on the road for a few days.
After the kids were in bed, Ron and Naomi were nice enough to offer their babysitting so Jaclyn and I could go explore South Haven. We went downtown and walked around and grabbed a drink on the water at Admiral Jack’s. We looked around for another place, but most restaurants were closing at 10. So, instead, we got delicious ice cream at the random ice cream shop that is open until 11. We walked down the Main Street and to the water front and then down to the lighthouse on the pier. It was some much needed relaxation time and something that we don’t get to do much even at home!
We returned back to the house around 10:30 and chatted with Ron and Naomi until around midnight (whoops). We went to bed hoping that Beckett wouldn’t repeat his 1am wakeup….

Jaclyn here! I’m editing this post to include my own thoughts for the day since Jay was working though all the fun!

After a nice morning relaxing at Ron and Naomi’s house, the kids and I had fun exploring downtown South Haven in the afternoon with them. It is such a cute little town by the water. It was so nice out and warmer than we all expected. We parked downtown and walked along Black River to the lighthouse. Brooke was so excited to take her shoes off and frolic around the sand on the edge of the beach. I should have known that when I said she could go run around for a few minutes that she wouldn’t be able to resist lying down and rolling around in the sand. It was hard to convince Brooke to continue our walk, but luckily we were planning on going back to the beach the next day with proper clothing so she wouldn’t have to wait long for another beach trip.

We enjoyed the path to the lighthouse and it was a quieter walk than I’m used to since Beckett was quite content being pushed in the stroller the whole time and watching for boats.

We were so appreciative of a home-cooked meal and after the kids went to bed, Jay and I got to go out downtown. It’s always fun to sit outside with a drink by the water. And finishing our walk as the sun set with delicious ice cream was the perfect way to wrap up our date night! Thanks again to Uncle Ron and Aunt Naomi for the babysitting!

I am always saying God bless my beautiful family!
