Day 3 – Welcome to New Mexico

Hey! We officially made it to New Mexico today (Tucumcari to be exact). We left Springfield, MO and traversed pretty much the entire width of Oklahoma, then clipped the very top of Texas and crossed into New Mexico. It was smooth again with no issues. We were stunned by the insane number of wind turbines in Texas…who knew they had so much wind power? Apparently they have 30,000+ turbines and wind power is 20% of the grid in Texas (we were bored). We got to the hotel early (thanks timezones!) and have been able to relax. We should be able to get some good sleep tonight before the chaos of road tripping with kids begins tomorrow!

Unfortunately, Jaclyn didn’t have such an easy day. While getting the house perfectly clean and ready to go she found out that flies found their way into a bag of mulch and now our basement has a bunch of flies. So she’s been dealing with that on the eve of them leaving. Luckily Al has offered to help out, thank you!!!

Tomorrow, Al will drive Jaclyn and the kids to the airport around 4:15am, yikes! Brooke has had some issues with her ears so thereโ€™s all sorts of things Jaclyn has to do to make sure her ears are fine during the flight (hoping that goes ok!). They fly to Chicago, have about an hour layover and fly to Albuquerque. Once in Albuquerque we still have a 3.5 hour drive to Brandon and Christina’s house. Tomorrow will definitely be a struggle with the kids having to take 2 flights and drive 3.5 hours but we will be rewarded with a few days to relax and catch-up with Brandon, Christina, Parker and Serafina.
