Hey this is Jay! We’re getting really close to go time for me to leave. Only ~36 more hours! I was talking to my dad last week about the trip and we realized that it would be awesome if he could come for the drive to Albuquerque with me. So, he checked his schedule and it worked out! So now I won’t be driving alone. He’s going to drive to Albuquerque and then fly home. Thanks dad!
Since he’s decided to join he’s already done much more planning for the route then I have, lol! My plan was Google Maps and last minute hotels wherever I am! The revised plan is:
- Cleveland, OH (~670 miles)
- Springfield, MO (~770 miles)
- Tucumcari, NM (~650 miles)
- Albuquerque, NM (~175 miles)
Jaclyn and the kids will be arriving into the Albuquerque airport around 10:30am, so hopefully we will beat them there!
Jaclyn is doing a great job getting ready! She had her suitcase fully packed on Wednesday! I have yet to start packing my suitcase…
Today we had a bit of a scare with our plans because we were waiting for a part we need for the Thule Cargo Box we bought. It looks like USPS lost the shipment! Earlier this week the closest place that had the part was in Portland, OR! So we were panicking, or at least I was, but we totally lucked out that a store in Framingham just got one in! So, I’m off the Framingham tomorrow to pick it up!
Wish us luck in the final days of prep! We’re super excited!
Good luck getting the cargo box part Jay! We’re rooting for you! And lol I wouldn’t be packed either.
Hopefully it’s smooth sailing after you get your part. A couple good things to have too is a mini air compressor for inflating your tires that works off the 12v car jack and a tire plug kit. You should be able to get both at walmart if you don’t have them.
